Finding Common Ground: Designing a CMS for Many Stakeholders

Summary

Princeton University uses its multi-site Drupal CMS to design and build a variety of websites for departments, centers, programs, labs, faculty, and conferences. We use the multi-site CMS for 1,000+ websites and maintain it with a relatively small team. With many websites and a small team, we needed to find common ground to build in the most frequently required functionality so that we could reasonably maintain the CMS.

This talk explains how we made it work for many stakeholders with various content priorities and functional and business needs. A brief demo of the design and layout options will showcase the flexibility that comes pre-made with each new website. It will also explain our process, team dynamics, and lessons learned.
